History:Opened March 11, 1965 at the Fisher Theatre, Detroit, Closed April 10, 1965. It starred Alfred Marks, Phyllis Newman, Hy Hazell and John McMartin, and was directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse.
Synopsis (from A Most Remarkable Fella):Imagine John Paul Jones goes to Russia in 1788 to fight the Turks for Catherine the Great, he becomes embroiled in political and romantic intrigue: Catherine loves the devilish Potemkin, who adores the lusty, murderous Sura, who falls for oh-so-Presbyterian Jones one minute, then into Potemkin's arms the next.
